Granite User Documentation

Introduction

Granite is NCSA’s tape archive system, closely integrated with Taiga, to provide users with a place to store long-term archive datasets. The system is built using a 19-frame Spectra TFinity tape library outfitted with 20 LTO-9 tape drives and can hold over 300PB of replicated data.

The archive is built using Versity’s ScoutAM and ScoutFS products, giving users a single archive namespace from which to stage data in and out. Access to this tape system is available directly via Globus and S3.
