Backups

Data on Taiga is not backed up and is only a single copy.

It is recommended to back up critical data to an allocation on the Granite tape archive system or another system that you have an allocation on.

Illinois Offsite DR

The NCSA Storage team opeartes an offsite backup system for small Illinois allocations on Taiga that need higher durability for their data. To inquire if your Illinois allocation is eligible for this service please reach out via a support request. This offsite copy only protects data in the event of a major file-system-loss event on the primary file system and does not provide any version history or means of retreiving accidentally deleted files.
